The Long Awaited Amazon Pictures...

As promised, we wanted to share some of the pictures from the recent Calvary trip to the Amazon. A team of three members: John Sloan, Mike Bryant, and Joe Wittmer traveled from Chicago to Orlando to Panama City to Bogata Columbia to Leticia Columbia, to Brazil. In Brazil they met up with the Calvary supported missionary Michael Geurink for a week of ministry evaluation and encouragement.
The trip took them from shopping for hammocks in brazillian markets, to overnight boating trips down the amazon river, to exploring missionary aviation hangars, to hiking the amazon rain forest to remote indian villages, to swimming in the amazon, and staying on house boats. Overall, the three men throughly enjoyed the trip and learned much about each other, the ministry happening in Brazil, and how we can better partner with the missionary that we support. enjoy the pictures , and if you want to know more about what happened on the trip just ask John, Mike or Joe. Thanks for your prayer support while we were away, it's good to be back and worshipping with you again.

Mike & Joe in the hammocks on a 12 hour overnight boat ride down the amazon. It was very packed and they had to sleep in close quarters with approx. 50 other people.

Walking the plank...this is how we got on and off most boats in Brazil. Loaded down with our packs and walking unsturdy planks over lots of water.

Into the jungle...actually it's the rainforest, but jungle sounds more intense. The hike was a test of balance and endurance. Walking over various sized logs submerged just under the water's surface proved to be challenging & each guy had at least one fall into the "murkey brown." Then the heat mixed with the long pants, little amounts of water, and back packs sapped our energies as well....all in all we had a blast.

Modes of transportation, we went by foot, car, plane, bike, boat, and even a 4-wheeler on our adventures in the Amazon. it never ceased to amaze us how people get around in other countries.
