Americana in the Philippines

Fleet - I
thought about you while eating at the Manila Hotel on Saturday,
the former residence of General Douglas MacArthur from 1935-1941.
He was driven out by the Japanese,
fled to Corregidor nearby in Manila Bay and narrowly escaped just after making his "I
shall return speech."
The famous picture of his return to the Philippines a
few years later on the island of Letye has forever been embedded in American lore.
Other celebreties to stay at Manila Hotel were John Wayne,
John F.
Kennedy and the Beatles.
See you soon man!
