For $58 you can become an ordained minister. Yes, that’s right! If you go to http://www.ordination.com/, you can apply right now and receive your ordination certificate within 3 business days. And I’m not joking. (The full package, which includes the Doctor of Divinity degree, is $225.00.)
Of course you can skip the application process and save the $58.00. How? Well, do what a growing number of people are doing in the Western world – just ordain yourself. If you don’t like the counsel given by your pastor – just ignore it. If you don’t like the authority of the elders – slip in and out for “carry-out spirituality,” but never place yourself under the authority of the church. If you don’t like the leadership of your church (or the fact that your leaders actually LEAD – imagine that!), then go find another church where you can worship and hear a sermon with no one to speak any authority into your life. Self-guided spiritually is becoming ever more popular in our postmodern culture. People are “ordaining” themselves by the thousands.
It is a dangerous trend . . .

Hm. I think you might have an opinion on this one, lionel. haha. do you think God holds self-ordained believers at the same high standard as actual leaders? i'm thinking it might be nice to have an actual degree hanging above my desk...
